The USA promises weapons, but will the war end? - thoughts of Kyiv residents

At the very beginning of the week, US President announced that he plans to send arms to Ukraine that will be useful not only for defense. Specifically, this concerns

Our journalists decided to find out how Kyiv residents feel about this and how the new weapons might impact events in the East.

Waiting for victory in 2025?

Kyiv residents believe that the new supplies of weapons could improve the situation at the front. However, it is premature to think that this will help end the war in 2025.

'I believe this will help a little, but it will not accelerate the end of the war. It will end when we have enough weapons to push Moscow directly. Only then, perhaps, a real agreement can be reached. Right now, Russia is setting conditions that we cannot accept, and we will not be able to end the war,' – shares his thoughts Kyiv resident Igor.

In particular, many residents of the capital do not trust Donald Trump. They believe that actions, not words, are important when it comes to providing military assistance.

'Honestly, I'm not sure how all this will affect the situation since the news changes quickly. It is hard for us to react to it. I think if weapons come in large quantities, it will help, but will that really happen,' – noted Olga.

Some believe that even increasing armaments will not help Ukraine win or regain lost territories. Russia is considered a strong adversary that can only be beaten with 'gigantic artillery.'

'No, I think the war will not end this year. They will not withdraw while all four regions they have claimed are not captured. In order to end the war, we need F-35 planes, for example,' – believes Volodymyr.

It is important to note that the US government has promised to provide to Ukraine in the near future. The White House also does not rule out imposing against Russia that could seriously harm its economy.
