Russia is preparing to present conditions for peace

After the exchange of prisoners, Russia plans to put forward its conditions for resolving the situation in Ukraine. Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) claim that these conditions may require the complete subjugation of the Ukrainian government.

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister expects a response from Russia to the ceasefire agreement reached after the exchange of prisoners on May 25. Ukraine is pleased to include the United States and Europe in further negotiations and does not rule out a meeting between the presidents of the countries.

Sergei Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, noted that after the exchange of prisoners, Russia would present conditions for a long-term resolution of the crisis.

ISW representatives emphasize that Russia is heading towards the complete subjugation of Ukraine and does not plan to actively end the war before peace negotiations commence.

Details of the prisoner exchange

On May 23, 390 Ukrainians were released as part of the exchange with Russia, the first stage of the agreement. In total, this year, the 65th group of prisoners held under Russian authority has been released.

In the second stage of the exchange agreement, another 307 Ukrainians returned home yesterday. This stage resulted from negotiations in Turkey and was included in the agreement '1000 to 1000'.

Analysis shows that the conflict between Ukraine and Russia continues, and the process of peaceful resolution remains complicated and lengthy. The question of peace in the region is of utmost importance for all parties involved.
