Algeria Accuses France of Destabilizing the Situation in the Country.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Algeria summoned French Ambassador Stéphane Romatet to deliver a stern warning regarding France’s actions and to accuse it of conducting aggressive operations to destabilize Algeria.
The Algerian side specifically indicated that the French General Directorate for External Security (DGSE) was the orchestrator of these 'malicious acts.'
According to Algerian media, this intelligence agency carried out a series of 'operations and aggressive maneuvers aimed at the institutions of the Algerian Republic with the purpose of destabilizing them and causing serious harm to the country.'
The summoning of the ambassador occurred after Algerian national television aired a documentary claiming that 'France's Machiavellian plan was brilliantly thwarted by Algerian security services.'
The crisis in relations between France and its former African colony Algeria escalated this summer after Algeria recalled its ambassador from France. This happened after President Emmanuel Macron voiced strong support for a plan to create autonomy for Western Sahara under Moroccan sovereignty, which is claimed by independence fighters from the Polisario Front, supported by Algeria. Algeria demands a referendum on the region's independence.
History of the Conflict
Western Sahara is a former Spanish colony and a disputed territory in North Africa. It is a sparsely populated strip of land covering 266,000 square kilometers along the Atlantic coast, bordering Morocco, Mauritania, and Algeria.
