George Friedman assessed the Kremlin's intentions to increase the number of troops: what's behind it.

Increasing the size of the Russian army may be an attempt to convince enemies to capitulate
The founder and head of Geopolitical Futures, George Friedman, published an analytical article about Moscow's announcement regarding a significant increase in the size of the Russian army.
Despite first appearances, Friedman believes that this is not a direct threat to Ukraine that could change the course of the war. The analyst notes that the new troops will require training, which takes a lot of Time. Most of them will become combat-ready only by the end of 2025. Recruits will also need equipment, which is often lacking.
Friedman points to the possible negative consequences of this decision for the Russian economy and public sentiment. He believes that this announcement may be an attempt by Russia to intimidate external enemies and force them to sign an agreement on its terms without provoking a strong reaction from the United States.
The expert concludes his thought by stating that the announcement of an increase in the size of the Russian army itself may put more pressure on Ukraine to resolve the conflict than a quiet draft and the gradual appearance of these troops on the battlefield.
