Russian forces have intensified their offensive actions on several sections of the front, trying to influence the ceasefire and peace negotiations. However, analysts believe that these attacks will not yield significant results. According to a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russian troops have ramped up operations in certain directions, particularly in the Sumy, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions. Analysts confirm the words of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky about Russia's readiness to intensify ground operations. The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to counterattack, attempting to hold back the Russian troops. However, the enemy has not yet achieved significant success.
Russian command is likely not to transfer troops from the Kursk region if it plans a coordinated offensive on Sumy and other large cities. They do not have enough reserves for such large-scale attacks without redeploying forces from other sections of the front.Analysts from the Institute believe that even after redeploying troops, Russia will not be able to organize a large-scale offensive simultaneously on three major Ukrainian cities. This is due to significant losses in armored vehicles and personnel over the three years of war. It follows that Russia currently lacks the capability to conduct complex operations with simultaneous advances in several directions. The Kremlin has also failed to recruit enough new conscripts to significantly increase its forces or create substantial reserves. Analysts expect that Russia will attempt to use any successes on the front as leverage in future negotiations. They may raise new territorial demands regarding regions that are currently not occupied and are not official targets of Moscow.
