Vinnytsia will provide heat and hot water for houses disconnected from electricity
Vinnytsia is approaching energy independence thanks to joint efforts and support from partners such as USAID and IOM. Mayor Serhiy Morgunov announced that modern cogeneration plants have been installed in the city's main boiler rooms.
This means that even during power outages, most residents of Vinnytsia will have heat and hot water.
«The total capacity of the plants is over 5 MW. This is enough to provide heat and hot water to residents of more than half of the city's high-rise buildings during power outages. Other city boilers have generators and a sufficient fuel supply for blackouts», he added.
Morgunov explained that the use of local and alternative generation is a path to energy independence for the community in the face of constant attacks on the energy system.
«Therefore, we are constantly looking for new opportunities. Currently, we are working on creating a single energy ‘island’ that will power the most important critical infrastructure objects», he said.
It is worth noting that «Naftogaz» will install solar panels on the roofs of nine medical institutions in regions where the group's enterprises operate.
