Additionally, 20 cars were damaged, three buildings of Lviv Polytechnic were affected, as well as production facilities, city court buildings, and over 20 commercial establishments.
The mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovyi, personally visited the shelling site, where he informed that one of the buildings affected by the strike could not be restored. This building housed seven families, but they will receive compensation to purchase new housing.
Experts have concluded that restoring this building is too costly. We spoke with the residents, and they will receive money for each square meter. It will be about 57,000 UAH per square meter, and they will be able to purchase quality housing. While searching for a new place to live, they will receive compensation from the city. Thus, this situation is well-resolved, — explained the mayor of Lviv.
In the night of July 12, explosions occurred in Lviv due to the shelling. Buildings were damaged, and a fire broke out.
According to Sadovyi, a kindergarten was also affected, and the network was damaged. As a result, trolleybuses No. 22, 30, and 32 temporarily stopped running.
The most destruction occurred on Olena Stepanivna and Andrei Sheptytsky streets. Novyny.LIVE showed the first footage from the shelling site.
Clarifying the extent of the damage from the shelling in Lviv on July 12 increases awareness of the seriousness of the situation and shows how much effort is needed to restore the city after the attack. Furthermore, this may influence decisions about the actions of Ukrainian troops and the scale of possible assistance to the city in this difficult situation. The public can join in fundraising efforts or providing assistance to local residents affected by Russian aggression. This news may also draw attention to the need for international support for the Ukrainian people in their struggle for territorial integrity.
