Pope Francis in critical condition after asthma attack
Pope Francis is in critical condition after a prolonged asthma attack, the Vatican reported. According to Associated Press, the 88-year-old pontiff has been in the hospital for over a week due to a respiratory infection. Doctors diagnosed Pope Francis with pneumonia.
'The Holy Father remains conscious and spent the day in a chair, although he is experiencing more pain than yesterday. At this moment, the prognosis remains cautious.'
Pope Francis has a history of respiratory diseases - in his youth, he lost part of his lung due to pleurisy. In 2023, the pontiff also suffered from an acute case of pneumonia.
