Patriarch Kirill threw a tantrum over the opening ceremony of the Olympics in Paris.

Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Kirill criticized the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris. He believes that the new practices introduced into usage contribute to the deculturation and fall of the spiritual culture of Western civilization.
The Summer Olympic Games took place in Paris and other cities in France, as well as in Tahiti. The debut of breakdancing as an Olympic sport was held at these games. These were also the last Olympic Games under the leadership of IOC President Thomas Bach.
The opening ceremony was held at the Trocadero Square, and the boat parade took place along the Seine. The route showcased cultural elements and sights of Paris. The Patriarch emphasized that these games are the second instance where the opening takes place outside the stadium.
Debut of breakdancing and equality of athletes
At the 2024 Games, there was an equal number of athletes among men and women. The total cost of the games is 8.3 billion euros. The ceremony was directed by filmmaker Thomas Jolly.
