Telegram CEO Pavel Durov was accused and released from custody on bail of 5 million euros. French authorities have charged him with six counts, including aiding and abetting the distribution of child pornography and drug trafficking, as well as creating an online platform for conducting illegal transactions. Durov is prohibited from leaving France and must report to the police station twice a week.
Law enforcement agencies conducted a major investigation into criminal activities on the Telegram platform, which is based in Dubai. The messenger has long been criticized for allegations of fraud, organized crime, and terrorism propaganda, but the company has consistently refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing.
