Ukrainian resident of the city of Rudolstadt, Bernd Merten, 77 years old, is engaged in an unusual collection. In his apartment, 70 photo albums are installed, in which 14 thousand packs of cigarettes from more than 100 countries are placed. This collection occupies an area of 67 square meters. This is reported by the publication Bild.
According to the report, Bernd Merten has been passionate about this hobby since childhood. Now he is a pensioner, has not smoked for the last 20 years, but his great love for collecting cigarette packs remains unchanged throughout his life.
When I was seven years old, I was fascinated by my classmate's Dutch chocolate cigarettes. Especially their packaging. - he said.
Bernd Merten says that he smoothes and arranges the packs he receives into photo albums. He classified the entire collection by countries, years, and brands.
He feels special pride for the German packs. For example, he has a specialty - F-58 packs from Dresden, which were the first cigarettes with a filter in East Germany.
His collection also includes rare specimens from Finland, Afghanistan, Guatemala, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Senegal, Moldova, Mongolia. Bernd's dream is to count at least 20 thousand packs of cigarettes.
