Ukraine has allowed multiple citizenship: who will be able to obtain a second passport.

Ukrainian people's deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko announced the adoption of a law regarding the possibility for Ukrainians to have multiple citizenships. According to this law, Ukrainians can obtain citizenship of other countries alongside their Ukrainian citizenship, without losing their Ukrainian passport.

According to bill No. 11469, which was supported by 243 people's deputies, the procedures for obtaining Ukrainian citizenship have been simplified, making it more accessible for both Ukrainians and foreigners. For instance, foreigners who have served in the Ukrainian armed forces will now be able to obtain Ukrainian citizenship more quickly if they confirm their Ukrainian roots.

Restrictions and important conditions of the law

The new law states that public servants and judges cannot hold multiple citizenships simultaneously. It is also important to note that while in Ukraine, an individual with both a Ukrainian and a foreign passport will be considered only a citizen of Ukraine.
