Drivers will start to be fined for spare tires: who is at risk of punishment.

After the Ukrainian government abolished mandatory technical inspections for vehicles, the traffic police began to pay more attention to the technical condition of cars on the roads. Now car owners will have to be more cautious, as violations of safety regulations can lead to hefty fines. Even the condition of a spare tire in the trunk can become a reason for a fine.

Many drivers do not know that they can be fined even for a worn-out spare tire in their cars.

Tires have a service life, which usually does not exceed five years, even if they have not been used. According to Article 121 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses, a driver can be fined in the amount of 340-510 hryvnias for a low-quality tire.

If police officers discover serious defects that cannot be fixed on the spot, the vehicle may be sent to a special lot. This will lead not only to additional costs but also take a considerable amount of Time from the vehicle owner.

Proposal to solve the problem

Recently, a proposal has emerged to solve this problem based on a Chinese model, but so far the new system has not been introduced.
